Model 113 submersible Argos beacon

The Model 113 is an ARGOS PTT transmitter, antenna, and battery pack housed in a plastic case waterproof to 200 meters immersion. The Model 113 is designed to provide an "anchor watch" for the surface marker of an instrument mooring or to be attached to the top of a submerged mooring or pod to provide a location beacon when the equipment surfaces by accident or design.

Model 117 GPS/Argos Mooring monitor

New for 2000

This is a variant of the very successful Model 104 and Model 115 autonomous GPS drifters. The monitor is completely self contained and is intended to be attached to a mooring surface marker. Twice per hour, the monitor checks its position with GPS and compares it with a stored anchor watch position. If the surface marker breaks loose and starts to drift, the beacon activates an Argos Platform Transmitter Terminal (PTT) which transmits a coded GPS time series (positions every 60 minutes), allowing relocation and retrieval of the mooring no matter how far it drifts. The advantage of this "smart" GPS/Argos method over conventional Argos anchor watch methods is that there are no satellite usage charges unless the surface marker breaks loose. The monitor comes with its own battery pack and will transmit positions for 30 days continuously after monitoring for 1 year.
